Female Firearms Class
The BCSA is announcing a new venture for our membership. We are sponsoring, in partnership with A Girl and a Gun.org out of Concord, not only our first firearms class, but a unique one as well.
This will be an all women’s class, instructed by a qualified cadre of women that are interested in you being safe with firearms.
Seating is initially limited to 20 BCSA women members and cost is $45 per person. Guns, ammunition and other equipment will be available and included in the fee.

President's Letter - Spring 2024
I have been remiss since being named BCSA President in reaching out to the membership and will remedy that right now!
Much happened within the association during the tenure of recent administrations and of Immediate Past President Bubba Normandin and continues apace since the November appointments when Wes Williams joined me at the “head table” as Vice-President. Most of you know what has occurred on the archery and firearms range portions in recent months because of the “Range Ramblings” newsletter. I have stepped down as Rangemaster and Dustin Drew has assumed those duties. He will be continuing the newsletter, so expect one soon with the latest information on what you can expect this year. Much still to do out there. Hint: Work Parties!
In the last year and a half, the BOD has begun focusing on updating the aging buildings and grounds. Several years ago, both roofs were re-shingled and the tile floor in the main building was replaced with a modern composite flooring and a new commercial grade stove installed in the kitchen. After 3 large trees fronting the road fell (luckily, onto the parking lot) in the winter of ‘22/‘23, all were removed to avoid a similar fate, as it was determined they were not healthy. The front entrance to the parking lot was very bad and required significant work to repair and prevent this recurring problem. Last fall, the two very large, very old window air conditioners were removed and two “mini-splits” were installed. We are hoping to see much improvement in both heating and A/C once we examine a year of use. A large screen smart TV was installed and Wi-Fi ready for classes. We have also hired a contractor to repair the front steps, trim, soffit, fascia and broken siding. There are several other tasks being taken on by the BOD and member volunteers to improve the association, just too numerous to cover in a quick letter like this, although there will be other missives in the future. It is my intention to produce a communication to the membership at least quarterly. For now it will be available on Facebook and the website, later via email.
Our biggest asset is the membership! The last two years have brought in about 120 new members alone. In researching range numbers for reissue, we discovered quite a few available that had not been renewed for three years or more. One of our goals is to keep our members returning year after year. To do that, we want to have more events geared to the outdoors, particularly for youth. We are only as good as our members, so we are looking for your ideas on classes, seminars and other events, but we also need your participation to make this a reality.
Maybe you can give a class that would be of interest, or know someone that can. There will be 2 Hunter Safety classes this year, in April and August. Our Kids Fishing Derbies have been very popular, the Boy Scouts will be training on Ham radios in the near future at the clubhouse, and Director Phil Tanner is looking at fly tying classes. Firearm safety classes and handgun novice classes are also on the agenda. If you have an idea for a class or event for the membership that is representative of the BCSA, we would like to hear from you.
Another area that we are looking to the membership for participation are the various committees. Currently the committees have only directors on them, and by and large, only one or two on them at the most. Regardless of their commitment, it is hard to move forward without additional help. Range and Archery are full at the moment, but recently, we separated Buildings and Grounds into two committees. Also in need of help are two other important committees, Kitchen and Fundraising. The time needed to serve is not necessarily large, or even year round, but involvement when things need to be done. Things like ensuring emergency exits are clear in the winter, that the building is clean and prepped for hall rentals or Association use, spring and fall outdoor clean up, or arranging for the above on the bigger jobs.
I’m going to stop here for now, but if anything discussed is of interest to you, please contact me at ragsbar26@gmail.com, or VP Wes Williams at bcsawes@gmail.com
